JERUSALEM, Nov. 20 A barely legible clue the name Simon carved in Greek letters beckoned from high up on the weather-beaten facade of an ancient burial monument. Their curiosity piqued, two Jerusalem scholars uncovered six previously invisible lines of inscription: a Gospel verse Luke 2:25.

Is this real?

Are we now finding proof of Christ?

Seems pretty legit to me, but then again I am no biblical scholar. I can't imagine having a verse carved into a wall that repeats exactly a verse in the bible is fake.

How exactly is this proof of Jesus?

There are quite a few cases of Gospel verses being found on ancient structures.
This is down to the fact that the gospel writers simply copied them from older religions.

For example, Jesus says in the Bible:
"Come to me all you who are heavy laden and I will refresh you". - Matthew11.28.

This was lifted word for word from the inscription over the entanceway to the temple dedicated to Isis at Dendara.
There are also lines in the Song of Songs that are identical to those written in a poem from the cult of Isis.

Christianity evolved from Judaism which in itself evolved from more ancient Egyption religions. It is of no suprise then that the religions often intermingle.

Leveller,

I don't dispute your comments because I am not well versed in the providence of all material in the bible.

The idea here is that archeological findings correspond to ideas conveyed in the bible in timelines attributed to the rise of Christianity.

Attributions to Christ in the bible do not all have to be accurate.

Christ becomes more real as the evidence occurs that matches what is said to have been his life with archeological proof.
