More UN Financial Mismanagement
Financial mismanagement again. What a surprise. NOT!
This time it involves the UN’s Division for Public Administration and Development Management (DPADM) which is the part of the UN devoted to
promoting ‘transparency and openness’ in governments around the world.
Multiple financial mismanagements (crimes?) are alleged to have been happening in regards to this part of the UN. UNDESA (Department of Economic and
Social Affairs) has a policy of not revealing information on financial dealings with freelance consultants and contractors. So of course, since they
are not being ‘TRANSPARENT and OPEN’ in their process, we may not ever know for sure what has been happening.
According to the U.N.'s overseeing Board of Auditors 2004-2005 report, the department has engaged in a variety of irregularities. It also appears
that the usual cover up is well underway. UNDESA technicians had begun removing an unspecified number of documents from the UNDESA internal Web
site.
The UN is a corrupt financial black hole. This latest incident is relatively small compared to the Oil for Food scandal and Koffi Annan’s
irregularities with his family at the UN, etc. etc. It isn’t as flashy as the other crimes that the UN continually commits. But it is one more
drop in the bucket… one more nail in it’s coffin.
I posted this because I thought ya’ll should know about it.
