Lebanese civilians close to the border with Syria told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday that weapons for Hizbullah were being brought in by the truckload at night. Lebanese Army troops on duty at the border refused to confirm the claims.

This correspondent watched as a line of trucks and lorries several kilometers long built up at one crossing on the road from Lebanon into Syria. The trucks, en route from Beirut to Damascus, were laden with a mixture of goods: everything from construction materials to fruits and vegetables. But in the late afternoon wintry chill they were stationary; their drivers had disappeared and only the occasional soldier kept guard every few hundred meters.

Personally, I think that the US might be very right by claiming that Syria and Hezbollah are planning to make a coup d'etat against the current Lebanese government. Especially since the government is in a crisis as Hezbollah wants more influence and a veto ability.

BEIRUT, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Lebanon's political crisis deepened on Monday as a depleted cabinet approved draft U.N. statutes for a tribunal to try the killers of ex-premier Rafik al-Hariri despite the resignation of six pro-Syrian ministers.

Official sources said the Western-backed government of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora would now send the draft back to New York and wait for the final text on the special court to return.

Hezbollah doesn't care about the Lebanese cause, it's more interested in turning Lebanon into an ally of Syria and Iran.

Just something i noticed from your source.

Lebanese civilians close to the border with Syria told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday that weapons for Hizbullah were being brought in by the truckload at night.

Why would Lebanese civilians close to the border with Syria speak to the Jerusalem Post?

The article also mentions long lines of trucks passing from Lebanon to Syria, not the other way around.
Hezbollah has a helluva lot of support from the people. They are an armed defence militia involved in many social aspects, as well as protecting their country.
The terrorist tag is applied by those who they oppose, in much the same way as I could tag the British, American and Israeli regimes as terrorists. It's a word that is bandied about so much these days that it has lost any real meaning. Anyone who forcibly opposes the actions of the above governments becomes a terrorist, although they would see themselves as freedom fighters. It's a matter of perspective and how each group is portrayed by the world media.

Hezbollah is not only preparing for a coup d'etat against the Lebanese government. I understand that all Shiites have now resigned from it (following the U.N.'s decision to investigate the murder of their ex-PM). It would also be preparations to respond if and when Iran's nuke facilities are bombed, and retaliate against Israel. Even more terrifying if these are some kind of preparations to actually carry out Iran's stated policy of wiping out Israel.
