This article appeared in Time magazine and on time.com. It was removed by time.com.


While we hoped that popular revolt or coup would topple Saddam, neither the U.S. nor the countries of the region wished to see the breakup of the Iraqi state.

Iraq will be the next Israel and Palistine(spell?)


There is no way that there will a government there that can take care of all the people and have peace...mayby in a couple of hundred years but people always remember. I think Sadam was the only person that could keep the country in one piece, although he did it in a way most people think is wrong, very wrong

Our Arab "allies" at the time didn't want us to. It is really that simple. We had a chance to remove his sorry rear longer then a decade ago. Not to mention we had a legitimate reason (I mean, we still haven't found didly-crap in Iraq right?) to do it.

But that was choice we made then

Now we are just reaping what we sew.
