Hezbollah was not formed specifically to resist Israeli occupation and the formation and organization’s involvement in Lebanon is larger than just Israel...this is more than a historical fact. The 'press' loves to mention your idea...without accountability.

The self stated position of the organization is that Hezbollah exists as an “umma”, not a defender of a Lebanon but of an ‘ideal’. If one takes the time to read their manifesto, it is clear what the main goals are:

The complete destruction of Israel, establishing a Shi’ite theocracy in Lebanon under similar Iranian structure and the elimination of all Western influences in the ME. This is proclaimed by the organization!

Furthermore (very, very briefly),

Hezbollah’s initial primary function was engaging the Amal militia (please take the time to understand the history here) from conception (not Israel). Not until Iran chose to direct the organization completely was ‘resistance’ against Israelis an issue.

Hezbollah primarily continued to only combat the Amal until Syria intervened and ended the civil war. It was Syria that disarmed all militias with the exception of Hezbollah, not Lebanon.

Hezbollah was to directed (by Teheran and Damascus) to remain in the southern regions in a favorable position which could be used to offer resistance against Israel, but all military plans, at this time, had to go through Damascus.

Not until 1991, when Iran choose to replace Sobhi Tufaili with Musawi (as Secretary General of Hezbollah) and after Musawi’s death in 1992 (caused by Israeli action) did Hezbollah begin targeted/organized attacks on Israeli forces.. Narsallah was then appointed by Ayatollah Khamenei. Iran also responded to the attack against Musawi by blowing-up the Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires (which Khamenei is going through indictment by Brazil this very week for this act).

Iran began fixing the 'MO' for Hezbollah at this time.

Btween 1985 and 1987 major events between the two factions occurred, when Hez defeated by margin (600+) of the Amal in a full press, Hezbollah assumed their role...but nothing more....yet.

The leadership of Hez is appointed and controlled historically and presently by Syria and predominantly by Iran. These states created and support syndicates. The leadership has not constantly enjoyed a Lebanese majority and while there may be currently a Lebanese born SG, he answers not to the Lebanese people or government. Simply, review the comments from Iran’s Supreme leader during this past summer’s conflict.

A number of other armed militant organizations stem from the territory of Lebanon and may use Lebanese recruits (some examples):….

…Force 17, Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA), Japanese Red Army, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine Special Command (as well as the GC and LP), Abu Nadal Organization (ANO), Asbat al-Ansar and the PIJ….

Are all of the above “Lebanese militias?”...or Lebanese?....NO.

The enemy of my enemy etc…Palestine is a platform for their goals (as well as may other states) as long as conflict exists between the two, on this I’ll agree…but Hezbollah helps to foster and support the conflict...yes?

The destruction is Israel is an announced public point Hezbollah intentionally put in writing…to you it may be moot by opinion…but clearly not to Hezbollah.

Guilt or innocence is a point I never addressed.

But this common misconception Hezbollah formed to “resist Israel” is fallacious and historically inaccurate. Hezbollah is and has always been nothing more than proxy militia, formed, supported, lead and overseen by “other than Lebanese”. Everything Hezbollah has done so far is consistent with its goals.
