After 5 years the FBI is now convinced that the Anthrax attacks that killed 5 people was a far less sophisticated plot than was first thought, despite numerous tests in many laboratories there has been no evidence to prove that it was an employee of a government lab or US biodefence lab that committed these crimes. As a result of these findings the FBI is now expanding it's search, something that will put it under considerable strain given the huge amount of potential suspects both at home and abroad.

Five years after the anthrax attacks that killed five people, the FBI is now convinced that the lethal powder sent to the Senate was far less sophisticated than originally believed, widening the pool of possible suspects in a frustratingly slow investigation.

The finding, which resulted from countless scientific tests at numerous laboratories, appears to undermine the widely held belief that the attack was carried out by a government scientist or someone with access to a U.S. biodefense lab.

After five years do they seriously believe that the perpetrators will be caught? Or is this yet another case of just going through the motions to make the public believe that they are taking this very seriously still while all the time knowing that the people who committed these crimes are much closer to home?

Political ploy. Election coming up, can't let the Dems use the total lack of progress in this case against them, or remind people it was dropped because all the evidence pointed to the government. So now all the original evidence is being disputed - we were told this powder was "highly weaponized" and could only have been processed in advanced labs - now we're supposed to believe it was ground up in some guy's basement.

It's ok folks, it wasn't your government that tried to kill you it was those dirty terrorists after all and we're going after them, see.. see..

on 22 Sept 06, Dave Altimari posted a very similar article in the Courant;

Story: "New Anthrax Theory Offered"-
FBI scientist says little expertise needed
([email protected])...up in Hartford, CT

~~~~~~~~~~
it seems the administration/TPTB? are bringing more media sources into the
act of spreading the message that --> Anthrax can be produced by almost
anyone with $20K and some college chemistry knowledge.
Anyone with the money and time can make anthrax. However the anthrax used in the attacks was "military grade".
I'm glad this hasn't been completely forgotten. I was starting to worry. When referencing 9/11 everyone seems to talk about how we haven't been attacked since.
I agree this is designed to bring doubt to the theories circulating about who was behind the Anthrax Attacks and why they were carried out. The targets of the attacks alone, Tom Daschle and Tom Brokaw, go a long way toward pointing the finger at the perpetraitors, and I mean traitors, of the attacks.
Does anyone seriously think OBL was after Daschle and Brokaw, a liberal Senator and a liberal news anchor? It was a message, pure and simple, from the traitors to the left, to go along with the official investigation, or else.
