REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Video game developer
Electronics Arts Inc. of Redwood City, Calif., said Thursday it has
signed agreements to embed advertisements in its games.

EA announced it had reached agreements with video game advertising
network Massive Inc. and IGA Worldwide to insert advertisements
for consoles and PCs into the games, TechWeb reported Thursday.

The company's sports games, which comprise more than 50 percent
of EA's output, will feature the ads in the football stadiums,
basketball courts and at the sides of the roads featured in the games,
Miller said.

I was wondering how long til they started doing this.
I personally could care less if there are real adds in the game
or not, as long as it does'nt effect game-play.

Comments, Opinions?

I effin' HATE EA.

they just take over others games.

and Ads in the game? WTF

I paid for the damn thing.

I hope they choke, along with gamespy.

with that out of the way and actually reading the article, i mean the sports games, eh so what...

I'm just thinking in my FPS I don't want an ad bar while i'm waiting for a server or some crap..

but if its going to be corporate logos in the game atleast let me blow them up, say if i am at an Exxon gas station and I have a BFG I could like explode the sign.

This is nothing new. I seem to remember product placement in games as far back as James Pond II on the C64.
