How many times do I need to repeat this. There is no company announcing its results called British Petroluem. There is a company called BP releasing figures. You can not even get the name of the company right but hey what can you expect when the president of the United States is too stupid to get it right.

And how many of the posters on this thread have given up their dependance of crude oil based products? None of you as some part of the device you are using to access this website will have been created using crude oil.

If BP can make this kind of money, great as I reley of not only BP but many other global companies to deliver dividends so I can live when I stop work, but because the US president is such a lame duck, he wants to make that retirement worst by forcing a global company to postpone its dividend. And this from a man who will get over €100k pension from just being president.

you people really have no idea what it costs to produce and keep refineries going do you. there are two reasons that the price of gas goes up. #1 is the price of oil. when u have to pay more for one of the ingredients, u will pay more for the final product. #2 is the fact that these companies have to spend billions every year to repair existing facilities and install new ones in order to keep up with the EPA's ever changing rules. My job is to design such facilities, so I do in fact know how much they cost.

If you are going to whine and complain about it, dont use it. It's as simple as that. You can't complain about high gas prices and complain about it hurts the environment or whatever it is you want to bitch about. And yes these companies are entitled to profit. The markup on gas is really nothing. You want a real markup? look at the clothing industry.

Interesting so you design the facilities that refine oil and gas, anyways i was looking at something years ago about how big oil is trying to turn oil into hydrogen, about the process they were thinking of using, but I couldn't find it and got bored after 5 min of searching but this came up fast on Google. So I know it's you job and all and you got to protect it, but can you tell me how far they actually got on it and what changes they actually implement on the regular facilities so they don't lose profit, even the ones they say they must implement to code.

Or any of these processes they are buying up or investing in so when the change comes they wont be left out of the loop. What can you say on them.

funny you should mention that. my laptop is entirely made of oak, cedar, granite, ice, and a tooth from a prehistoric shark. it was a hell of thing to put together, though.

on a serious note:

i've only driven my car 4 times in the last month, does this help? i dunno.

But you still used your car, which even is electric, still using crude oil as the basis for many of the componets.

I guess it does help if you have changed our life and reduced the number of times you drive your car, but we still want products based on crude oil.

Congrats, BP.

Boy, this sure beats socialism, right? I mean, look at all the problems saudi arabia is having with their nationalized oil industry. Or the UAE with their nationalized oil industry (they recently became the proud owners of the "tallest man-made structure in the world). Or Venezuala, and their (recently) nationalized oil industry.

Why can't they learn from the west -- we're suppose to give up those massive profits to private corporations who then use the windfall profits to buy our government off and lock in their power.

Anything less is "redistribution of wealth," and we can't have that.
