I wonder why there would be un-named officials leaking out information like this to the general public without the UN releasing it as something factual.

Would be kind of stupid to allow them access to the site if they they intend on bombing them. One of those guys could be feeding intelligence to Israel giving IAF info. Can't say I'd blame them at this point. They should take a cue from India, Pakistan, N. Korea and Israel and just withdraw from the NPT. Seems like the NPT offers nothing if those countries can get away with having WMD's with little or no agression towards them.
