It makes sense, and then again it doesn't make sense. They don't perceive any threat from China or USSR, but isn't N. Korea within range??

I think I missed something here.

I think you are correct. Something doesn't feel right. I would not be at all surprised to find out that a third or even fourth similar facility is already in operation in a much more secretive spot.

Maybe a Black Project or something of that nature - off the books. You hear tales of underground covert stuff pretty frequently... some of it and perhaps much more than can be guessed may actually be true. Bugs me that I don't know for sure.

Some feel NK can strike at the Western hemisphere... maybe they can, but I have doubts if they can control the point of impact - a NORAD-like "thing" maybe similar to an oil platform is floatin' out in the Pacific for such a contingency might be prudent.
