A French member of a UN patrol has been killed in an Israeli air raid in south Lebanon after a roadside bomb killed an Israeli officer and wounded three soldiers in a disputed area on the Lebanese frontier.
The UN patrol was hit by Israeli fire near the Shebaa Farms area on Sunday, Lebanese police said. A Swedish UN peacekeeper and a Lebanese driver were also injured, police said.
AVIVIM, Israel -- Some 10 Israeli armored vehicles on Saturday crushed a border fence and entered Lebanon, surrounding a UN observation post, an AFP correspondent reported.
Armored personnel carriers and bulldozers crossed the border at Avivim, around 35 kilometers (23 miles) from the Mediterranean coast, and surrounded an observation post of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
"This is only a pinpoint operation," said army spokesman Jacob Dalal.

strange how such issues are 'resolved' through violence rather than raking the UN over the coals for siding with an involved party, isn't it? politricks is a dirty business ineed.
