I've had a all kinds of deja vu. I had a deja vu save me from getting hit by lightning.

I've had a some of deja vu in which I was supposed to die in that moment.

I've had deja vu which I remember seeing in a dream first. And then there's the normal deja vu with no significance to them.

I have no idea what causes them but I'm glad to have experienced them.

I was under the impression tha the de-ja-vu phenomenon is when the left part of the brain receives something prior to the right part of the brain. Hmm This would co-incide wit the Long term memory before short term memory theory..

There are a couple of good goes at cognitive explanations already so I will leave the definitions to you other professors.

I hardly experience it these days. I used to feel OK with it, because as well as knowing where I was I had a feeling of knowing what was coming next, and therefore living in the past, the present, and the immediate future. These days as I said on another thread today I have too many synchronicities so the deja vu experience seems to take a back seat.

Here's a deja vu experience especially for triplesod when he finally gets here, the specially selected MaskedAvatar song for the day.

Everything's Gone Green (New Order)

Help me, somebody help me
I wonder where I am
I see my future before me
I'll hurt you when I can
It seems like I've been here before
It seems like I've been here before
It seems like I've been here before

Confusion sprung up from devotion
A halo that covers my eyes
It sprung from this first estrangement
No one have I ever despised
Is this the way that you wanted to pay
Won't you show me, please show me the way
Is this the way that you wanted to pay
Won't you show me, please show me the way
Show me Show me Show me Show me Show me

It seems like I've been here before
It seems like I've been here before
It seems like I've been here before.

De Ja Vu is a strip club a few miles away from my house.

I would put a link on here but William or someone up there would probably get really #in pissed at me.

and this realignment is done to attemptedly change the factors of some part of destiny...
you percieve it because temporaly you mind is connected with the father of cousciousness(like it or not) and you actually see the difference in realities...

Anything that changes my destiny will also change the destinies of those close to me. But, you hardly ever hear of two people having Deja Vu at the exact same time.

This is a fascinating thread, thanks all. One of the things pointed out was that De Ja Voux is just a short-circuit in your memory so that the short-term memory is bypassed, and memories are fed directly to your long-term memory. Suppose we find a way to short-circuit our minds like this on demand, like say when we are attempting to study something, and use it as a sort of photographic memory?

I know that Mozart had one of these types of memory. From what I understand, he could take a book, and flip it page-over-page, close the book, and read to you what was on page 79, or any other page. Imagine if there was a way to harness the De Ja Voux effect to do this?

I can hardly imagine what it would feel like to maintain this state for an extended period ie: months.

The only problem that I have with my given description of Deja Vu is that the event is easily forgotten. I realize that many long term memories are lost over time, but I can not recall any Deja Vu experiences that I have had in the past.

they may not be aware enough to percieve it...
and most people have no control over their destinies(they allow others to make their choices for them)...

I'd like to go with the short circuiting memory thing... but it just seems to much like the government hiding something.

Often when I have deja vu, I mutter what people are about to say, sometimes several seconds before it happens, I think deja vu is a "Psychic Spark"

well if you call having a natural connection to the mass cousciousness psychic, o.k...
but really though it is a temporal phenom...

A perceptual "hiccup", a mini mental loop if you will. You experience something and the signal gets sent to your brain and due to some kind of error the same signal is sent again milliseconds behind the first. Thus the feeling you have experienced it before.

I've been able to attach several Deja Vus to dreams. And since I have a lot of dreams I don't remember I can't say for certain if Deja Vu isn't just forgotten dreams that make it into the waking life. That's just my experience.

When Kanu REEVES go outside from his palace, in the street and watch at the poors sufferings, he have a sensation of deja-vu.

It can be a "reminescence" (a remanence) of your pasts lifes...

Ever since I experienced De Ja Vu whilst I was overseas and in a situation I had never been before I started believing that we are able to dream the future.

It is impossible for it to be anything to do with reincarnation as I was wearing the same clothes and with the same people.

*i havent read the whole thread*

i get De Ja Vu atleast once a week.

i used to just go "oh De Ja Vu" afterwards.

Now i KNOW what is going to happen, who is going to walk into the room, what ad is coming on tv etc etc etc atleast 10-60 seconds before hand.

the strange thing is, sometimes i cant control it even though i know it is gonna happen.

BUT sometimes i change it which leads me to believe the ones i can change are "preminitions"
and the ones i cant " DeJaVu"

like for instance.

DeJaVu : i was sitting on my lounge one night i was home alone. then i thought to my self "ive been here before wow dejavu" then i thought "hayley (my sister) is gonna walk into the room"

sure enough she did about 30 secs later. she had been out and came home to get her smokes, she wasnt in her car, she had walked (only about 500 Meters)

then the other day i was sitting in my car at a friends house and i thought to my self "dejavu i'd better move the car" then about 2 mins seconds after i got out of the car annother car came around the corner and lost control. that i think was my psychic
