Please tell me I'm not going mad....

I vaguely remember, as I was growing up...

Various news stories, on TV, in the Newspapers.. about a disease that was eating people alive, I cannot remember for the life of me what it was called, I was sure it began with an S..

It lasted about 2 or 3 weeks in the media, then silence.. NOTHING, and I can't find ANYTHING about it, not even google picks up stories about it for me (which subsequently is where I found this forum)..

Bearing in mind this happened in the UK, and this isn't a UK forum..

Can anyone help me?

Am I going mad... or did this really happen and why did it suddenly get hushed up?

Might you be thinking of Flesh Eating Disease ? Every now and then an isolated case pops up in the news. The new disease, morgellons or whatever it is sounds scary also.

The actual condition is necrotizing fasciitis, fairly common compared to other diseases, but not as common as say the flu, heh.
