A cluster of bird flu cases on the island of Sumatra may be the first instances of direct human-to-human transmission of the disease. It still needs to be verified but experts from WHO are concerned.

May 23 (Bloomberg) -- All seven people infected with bird flu in a cluster of Indonesian cases can be linked to other patients, according to disease trackers investigating possible human-to-human transmission of the H5N1 virus.

If this doesn't turn out to be the first H2H we will have dodged the bullet again. As experts have been warning it is only a matter of time. Lately it seemed like H5N1 was slowly falling from the news but this may change things. We all need to stay tuned.

Oh my, that does not sound too good at all.

At least the place is not all that densely populated. I mean, if the new strain were to break out in Rio de Janeiro . . .

We're all just gonna have to cross our fingers and hope.
