Guantanamo Bay inmates have clashed with prison officers after the officers tried to stop another inmate hanging himself. Six inmates were injured in the clash after detainees used weapons made from fans and light fixtures to attack guards. This was after three inmates had earlier tried to overdose on prescribed drugs.
The BBC's Adam Brookes in Washington says this is the first time that details have emerged of such an incident involving more than one inmate, although individuals regularly resist guards.

US military spokesman Cmdr Robert Durand said guards responded to an attempted suicide in Camp 4, a less restrictive part of the facility where detainees are allowed to associate freely as a reward for good behaviour.

"Minimum force was used to quell the disturbance and prevent the suicide," he said.

The inmates should be severly punished for this.

Any inmate trying to commit suicide in any prison around the world should be stopped if possible.

Hopefully this will not give the UN even more ammunition after they called for the centre to be closed.

Edit: Title.

This isnt a surprise, it happens in prisons all over the world every day. Inmates will make weapons from whatever they can. Take a look at some of these made in US prisons.

These are just a few of the weapons prisoners make. They use lunchtrays, broomhandles they break off, chairs, or anything solid they can get their hands on.
