I was just wondering, what kind of machine does ATS run on? I assume it has to be quite a powerhouse to hold the load of posts and users of ATS.

lol

No, I don't sponsor hacking in any way. I just wanted to know the hardware specs and stuff. I don't care much about IPs and stuff like that because they piss me off anyhow.

Well, I'm sure glad that it runs on some sort of Linux, intead of Windoze Server 2003.

WOW

It makes my machine look like.....ugh!!!

It'd be nice to get my hands on those things. Then I can play flight simulator, with high quality graphics!

It's running RedHat 9, and it's a rack-mount server... so there's no hope of using it for games... I doubt it even has a video card.

Damn, you beat me to it

Ahhhhh,@#$%^&.

Well, I guess I could run SETI on it.

But that would rather be a waste of a machine like that. Looking for aliens with something that runs on alien technology...

We need the horsepower too... currently ATS is averaging:

8,000 unique users per day
160,000 page views per day (20 per user)
800,000 hits
2.8 gigabytes of data (images not included)

Dude YOU really don't need 1gig of ram, a webserver like the one ATS uses does need 1 gig.
512mb is enough for most home pc's...

I was just wondering William, could you post a pic of the server, or maybe with you posing next to it? I always wondered how big powerhouse servers like ATS looks like.

The machine is in Texas, in a huge data center.

It's about 2 inches tall with maybe 6 or 8 flashing lights on the front... and I've never actually seen it.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

My USB hub sounds more impressive than that.

I thought it would be one of those things the size of my fridge. Sigh....

Again, I'm curious about the workings of ATS.

How much large in GB is ATS?

and...

About how big as a single post in KB? Like a blank post.

Dunno...

However... this month...
We will have served 4 million pages (not counting BTS) by the end of this evening.
Our total bandwidth just passed 100 gigabytes for the month.
We have over 260,000 unique visitors
Our database has processed at a pace of approximately 57 queries per second, on average this month.
The mySQL database holding all of this is 160 megabytes, when compressed in a backup.

Howzat?
