Ok one at a time.
If your looking to insert a link you type the following:

url=www.website.com]www.website.com[[
/url]
The first part is the actual link, and the second part is what you wish to display. so you would see something like this:
[
url=www.abovetopsecret.com]www.abovetopsecret.com[
/url] =
www.abovetopsecret.com
OR
[
url=www.abovetopsecret.com]Above Top Secret[
/url] =
Above Top Secret
So thats how you can do a direct link.
To create an image, you simply need to have the direct website. With ATS you can no longer post an image without the right access. So basically save
the image to your computer and use a website like
www.imageshack.us to host it.
Alls you need is the link and do the following:
[
ats]www.website.com/image.jpg[
/ats]
This will display the image in the post.
For your avatars, it is very simple.
