4,300th F-16 Delivered!

Jeez that’s a lot of planes.

Must be the most popular plane in all of existence. No wonder why its copied and “borrowed” from so much.

Oman will be the proud owners of number 4300, but the F-16 has been bought by 24 nations in total and 14 of them made repeat purchases!!

I remember seeing the 5,000th Phantom being paraded with its proud boast emblazoned on the fin around the 1978-80 ish. I think that is the most that has been produced of a fighter aircraft outside of a world war (or maybe the most in the west at least, don't know the production figure for the MiG 21).

I'd say it looks quite likely that the F-16 will surpass the production total of the F-4 before long. Not bad for a plane widely derided as the 'lawn dart' by many.

Wow, that's an impressive tally... And an interesting event when we see that one of its competitors, namely the Mirage 2000, just saw its production line definitely closed. Or when we see that another of its former competitors although on a different level, the F/A-18, has seen a major redesign while the F-16 airframe didn't change that much.

Yeah... good plane in its time.. But I'm intrigued abou the total MiG 21 sale figures too..

I read that over 11,000 MIG 21's already and they are still in production as the Chinese F-7.
