Iran and Venezuela are becoming very cosy, partly becasue of their joint membership of OPEC and also becasue of their mutual hatred of the US. They are forging ahead with closer economic ties, with the Venezulans suspected of supplying Iran with Uraniam.`

`Public details of the Venezuelan-Iranian uranium deal are not clear, but an article on The Washington Post speculates that the agreement could involve the production and transfer of Venezuelan uranium to Iran. Media reports also talked of an alleged Israeli intelligence report that gave an account of the exact locations of uranium deposits in Venezuela and spoke of “extraction” already taking place in the State of Bolivar´

From the ISLAMONLINE website.

It is also thought Iran will provide Venezula with nuclear technolgy in exchange to help Venezuela with it`s search for nuclear power.
Will the US sit idly by and the an increasingly and close hostile neighbour aquire nuc power and possibly weapons????

The source utilized is incorrect.
Discussion aspect:
It is not the transfer of Venezuelan uranium to Iran, but Iranian uranium being transferred or acquired by Venezuela.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is seeking to deepen ties with Iran, with discussions on holding joint military exercises and obtaining uranium...

The Washington Times reported in October that the Chavez government had made overtures to Iran about obtaining nuclear technology.

U.S. officials told The Times that talks now include discussions on Venezuela's obtaining uranium for what is feared to be a fledgling nuclear program in Caracas.
"Hugo Chavez has been clearly talking to Iran about uranium," said a senior administration official, who asked not to be named.
Chavez turns to Iran on military, uranium

First of all, Venezuela, nor Venezuelans, nor Chavez hates the US. We have problems with the current Bush administration for their way of doing things and because they love going around trying to tell country what to do, blackmailing countries to remove any help they are supplying if they don't do things their way, etc. If they are going to provide help, then help, just don't do it to get a leverage position on other countries. Venezuela is a Sorveing country and we do not want other countries telling us what to do.

Second, there is no mining of uranium or any other material in Venezuela. What a coincidence. Venezuela expells the New Tribes organization from Venezuela and as soon as they are gone the US starts claiming we are digging for Uranium in the same area where the New Tribes were. Also, mining Uranium is no a simple process. Requires a lot of machinery and it is very complex to do it. Besides they have no proof, just their normal blabber.

Third, Iran is a business partner to us just like the US is. As the sorveing nation we are, we do business with whom gives us a good deal and respects us as a business partner. We are not going to stop business with a country all of a sudden just because the US suddently has a problem with it.

Fourth, even if we wanted to build nuclear powerplans, it is our sorveing right to do so. like it or not, oil is going to run out in around 20-50 years. To date nuclear power is the most efficient way to produce electricity so guess what every country is going to aim for? Yeap, nuclear powerplants.

Later,

Hes not trying to stop it. One of Irans own natural resource is Uranium. Seekerof is just stateting a fact. She wouldn't need to get it from Venezuela. Probably the only thing they have in common would be that they are major oil players and have a mutual dislike for America. They are both more then likely big trading partners for China and Russia since Venezuela has become friendly with Cuba.
