Mount Weather Is it for real?

I keep finding information about a secret underground government installation in West Virginia called Mount Weather. Is this place for real? From what I've read, it's like a parallel government or something. What on earth would we need something like that?

There's a few older threads about Mt weather on ATS. Have you used the search function, above for "mount weather"?
