I was curious. have seen a few members with a color background and do not have enough points for this. How can I get one?. Am I missing something?.

You can purchase it from the ATS Store in the Member Center. You'll need enough points first though, and you can earn them from posting in threads, content tagging, making podcasts, or through staff applauses.
