you could just borrow books from a libary for free, and if so inclined you need not return them.
as for food, you can always eat stuff inside the supermarket.
or get stuff from the deli, take off the barcode you get with it before you get to the register. theres a million easy ways to get buy.
problem is getting alcohol. its harder. but if your not fussy still incredibly cheap
