This is a article I dug up while searching the net today

Peoples Rights Organization
3953 Indianola Ave Columbus, OH 43214 (614) 268-0122

Volume 8 April, 1996 Number 4

The Toronto article boldly told it like it is. "Health
Minister Jim Wilson [Ontario] said yesterday that the government
has settled on a so-called "smart card" to replace the existing
health card, driver's license, social assistance identification,
drug card and senior identification."
"The card will link up to several government computers,
including a completely revamped health care data base that will be
able to track the most detailed information about patient health
and doctors' billings."

Canadians are embracing Big Brother with both arms. And it
gets STILL worse, and the government official doesn't even bother
to cover-up the ultimate goals of this Big Brother machine! The
newspaper said that Health minister Wilson told reporters, "If we
could bring it up to the level of a credit card, where they can
tell you where you were an hour ago and what you spent, that would
be a great step forward for the health-care system in Ontario."
Total totalitarian fascist society for Canada, what a "great"
day indeed! Think of this; a single plastic card with the total
record of your life, your medical condition, where you have been
and what you have purchased all available at the touch of a
bureaucrat's keyboard. And if you get our of political line...
they just shut off your debit card account and you can no longer
buy or sell. You can go broke at the touch of a button.
The NWO folks in Canada obviously have cajones as big as all
outdoors to just boldly broadcast their true plans! And PRO has
little doubt that one reason they are so bold, is to use Canada as
a North American test bed to gauge the possible resistance to
implementation of the mark of the beast in the United States ...
the real target.
The handwriting is on the wall for both the U.S. and Canada
and it's time all us hayseeds on BOTH sides of the border wake up,
take that weed from between our front teeth and tell these bunch of
fast-talking crooked carneys that they have exactly TWO options:
one is to fix their crooked games and make them honest or the other
is to be ridden on a rail to the city limits. Nothing less will
do.

Well first of all from a technical point of view this is a good thing.

From a perspective of intent there is the obvious ability to misuse this info and severely harm someone.

So they are taking several systems that are already in place and merging them into one. OH NO THE EVIL HAS BEGUN

So what, this is a good thing. You want taxes to go up or down? better organization and more redily available data makes for better services for you. I would prefer my doctor can get my medical history in an instant if there is an emergency. Yes there is potential that it could be misused, so could all of the old systems.
You paranoid people would have us riding in horse and buggies. No don't put computers in cars to make the engine more efficient, thats just a government conspiracy to track you.
