This may belong in Paranormal or Medical,

My nephew (aged 7) was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome 2 years ago. He is at the very bottom end of the autistic sprectrum and his only differance from normal kids is he likes routine, seems to have an enhanced sense of smell and finds it near impossible to tell a lie.

The last couple of days my sister has noted that he seemed really tired and asked him if he was sleeping OK. He replied that he couldn't sleep at nights because as soon as there was silence he heard voices in his head. When she asked him when this happened he said it started around a week ago, whenever there was silence he would hear a hissing, crackling sound (white noise) and after a few days this developed into audible voices that shouted at him (calling him fat, stupid etc). A few days later and he now claims that when it goes silent he can see two bald men who are identical who stand and shout at him. He says he now enjoys going to school because there is always noise there and he can hear kids pencils writing so the men can't bother him, he is not scared of them as he says he is now used to them.

He says that they are not like regular people in the fact that they are not 3d they are 2d.

Any ideas if this could be paranormal related in anyway eg. spirits??

Sister has a doctors appointment booked for next week as she is worried that he may have schizophrenia but I have never heard of a kid having this and I am unaware of any traumatic incidents which may have caused this.

Wow that's pretty freaky and interesting at the same time.
10 to 1 the doctors are going to diagnosis the onset of schizo because in our world it's just not normal to see people that others don't see and to hear voices in your head.
However, it doesn't mean that this doesn't have a tinge of paranormal either. Although the doctors will probably prescribe medicine to halt the voices so he may never get the chance to explore that option once he is old enough.

My personal belief is that some people are sensitive to the other side or other dimensions. Those people are usually labled by our society as unstable or having a mental disorder. Do mental imbalances exsist? Absolutely - but the question is does it happen in someone so young?
Most people diagnosed with schizo (I shorten it because of spelling) usually present in their 20's although that's still a mystery why.

What is disturbing about this is that he says these 2 guys yell at him. What are they saying and why?

Like animals children are more sensitive to these things and it diminishes as we age. We become more "logical" and less likely to believe in things otherworldly.

Keep us posted on his results from the doctor. I for one would be interested in what they have to say..

I have a nephew, whom I suspect also has aspegers syndrome..
Yet his mother refuses to take him to be diagnosed.
He's older, and was staying with us for a while, while we tried to help him get his life in gear...He;s back with mom now..
How was your nephew diagnosed?..
Mine exhibits most, if not all of the common symptoms.

Hi DDAY,

He says the two guys are shouting "You're so f**king stupid" "You're an Idiot" and "You fat jerk", sometimes all they do is stare and scream at him.

Hi,

My nephew was diagnosed through the normal channels eg, visit doctor, referred to specialist childrens hospital where he was extensively tested over a number of visits before being diagnosed.

IS your nephew overweight?
Does he have reptitive behaviour, or routines that he prefer not be disturbed or changed?

I have to say that while my nephew was staying with us, he would often turn and say "what?"..When no one had said a word to him..at least no one we could see..

That poor boy.
It's enough that kids these days hear those things by way of people that pick on others but to hear it in your own head. How do you get away from that.

Regardless if it's a medical condition he has or if it's paranormal I think in this case meds to stop those voices would be in order. If it is a paranormal thing then it isn't good perhaps even demonic in which he would need help to get rid of them.
It's a hard call with kids with autism because we know so little about it. Perhaps it's a part of the brain that is not normally available and open to most but because we know so little about the inner workings of the brain we label those mentally handicapped. Perhaps they really aren't but rather just able to tap into other unexplored areas of the mind.

Whichever the case with your nephew it's not healthy to hear those things being said to him.

He is slightly overweight but I wouldn't call him fat, he does have set routines that can't be changed or he will get annoyed...strange thing is I can recall times when he has turned to me and said "what" when no-one was talking to him.
