Doesn't sound very safe to me.

I don't think I would accept a strange package of unknown origin in my home either if one was delivered.

Just a side note AIM is known to have some security flaws in it as well.

I didn't mean to imply you were stupid. You did the right thing. That may also be enough to avoid problems as well.

with a name like commiebot you may actually be dealing with an actual "bot" and not a person anyway. You would then be just a random target like everyone else making it less trouble for you. If it continues then you may need to find a way of blocking it, and all is normal again.

If it is someone who is intent on interfacing with you however things might get more serious depending on their persistance, which then requires additional blocks on your part. Pretty much common sense.

You may want to look into the possible security issues with AIM however if you plan on using it a lot so you know where your weak points are at for extra protection. Or research additional sources of communication software similar to AIM.

I am almost certain that it is echelon, a banned member from the TBATS debacle. He most likely just wants to talk to you. Course, he could be trying to lure you in there to give you a virus.

I know that is not his screen name. However, he could have created a bot to notify certain people (read: favored members of ATS) to come to his chat room.
