Area 51 Photographed by Skylab in 1974

Found this interesting article courtesy of Slashdot, which is posted on the website for The Space Review.

Apparently, in Spring 1974 astronauts stationed on Skylab took some photos of Area 51, in direct defiance of prior instructions from the CIA. The story covers the interesting consequences and fallout, which did not become public until just recently. The full story can be found here.
