Marsha J. Evans will be resigning the end of this month because many disapproved of the way she handled Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Evans had assumed the position when her predecessor Dr. Bernadine Healy, was also forced to resign over her handling of the Sept. 11 donations. Daniel Borochoff, president of the American Institute of Philanthropy Stated once again the Red Cross is "'Empty,' 'running on fumes,' 'dangerously low' on its relief funds.

American Red Cross President Marsha J. Evans, who oversaw the charity's vast and sometimes criticized response to Hurricane Katrina, is resigning effective at the end of this month because of friction with her board of governors, the organization said Tuesday.

Red Cross spokesman Charles Connor said the board was not unhappy with Evans' handling of the hurricane response, "but had concerns about her management approach, and coordination and communication with the board."

Jack McGuire, the executive vice president of the charity's Biomedical Services, was named to serve as interim president and CEO while a search for a permanent successor to Evans is conducted.

[…]

The Red Cross emerged from that controversy with promises of greater openness and accountability, but the unprecedented challenges posed by this year's hurricanes raised new problems. Critics said the Red Cross failed to respond quickly enough in some low-income, minority areas; others faulted it for balking at cooperation with local grass-roots organizations even as it collected the bulk of the relief funds — more than $1.8 billion.

What I would like to know is just where has all the money gone? Allegedly Evans predecessor had ear marked 200 million dollars for future disasters rather then for the victims of 9/11 however it is unknown just how much money was misused for the recent hurricanes by Ms Evans.

Further more where have the funds collected by Presidents Bush Sr. and Clinton going/gone?

Does anyone know?

I know the Red Cross was running low -- in fact I think they had to borrow money. The money Bush Sr. and Clinton raised isn't going to the Red Cross, I think it's going directly to the state governments.

it may appear that Red Cross is in disarray....

but they are far from it,
take note that Red Cross has a cousin org. named Red Crescent
and just recently it has created/accepted/franchised this emblem

still another cousin org., which will no doubt amass contributions, it is named Red Diamond.

in this day & age....Nobody, is asleep at the wheel, with this addition of a third organizational powerhouse in actions to the benefit of humanity...
there now exists an 'Axis of Aid' =Cross+Crescent+Diamond

Hopefully, to counter the destructions & perplexity of these immediate times.
