Supposed Meteor lights up skies in Australia

Was watching the news last night here in Australia and saw a report about a large super bright object filmed over Western Australia. Probably not 'alien' but still unidentified. Astronomers estimated it was a meteor. Video here:



"I looked up over head and there was something silver, sort of looked like a silver ball with a trailing reddish green sort of tail almost like fireworks.

Does anyone think otherwise? Did anyone see it in person? Could its unusual brightness be somehow related to something else?

If this is what a 'basketball' sized meteor looks like, then the one that wiped out the dinosaurs must have been SPECTACTULAR!

Yep, nothing but a metor. This should be moved to the space forum. Great vid by the way, one of the clearest meteor vids I have seen.
