And if it is a book this topic really belongs to here or here.

Is that the book about how you're considered part of the civilized world when you don't grow old as long as they take a certain pill & monogamy is considered taboo & there is no such thing as a family unit?

But outside this civilized world exists outcasts who do grow old, monogamy exists & there are families?

And the irony is that there is more freedom of mind with the outcasts because the pill that is taken limits your free thinking.

It would be a good system if I could be a high-up in The Party. Mmmm, jsut thinking about all those nymphos in the Youth Anti-Sex League makes me want to think that 4=5. or at least convince a bunch of peons that it is true.

But frankly, I really dont think that the idea is half bad.

I dont mind the idea of ruling in 1984. Ruling by fear is an effective way to keep general order. It has been proven through many centuries. (incas are a good example)

1984 is a really good book....read it.

I struggle to find one positive thing in the totalitarian vision of George Orwell.

The book was written as a warning, and has been used as a prescription after the successive dumbing down of two generations.

And now people want to embrace it! Maybe this topic is intended as a joke, sorry if I misread it.

"Brazil" (Terry Gilliam's flick) was a good little sideswipe at 1984 too.

I hope the world does not turn out like the world depicted in 1984. They were not allowed to have sex for pleasure. Kids would tell on their parents if they did something bad. Worst of all there were thought police.

Most of what is predicted has already happened.

Gentetics, test tube babies, Microphones and cameras all over the country.

Phone numbers to call for everything from dole cheats to criminals.

We effectively have one party politics across the so called civilised world. All the parties seem to lie and cheat for their own ends and to ensure they stay in power for as long as possible while doing little but take away our freedoms.
