The Grays
Sony Pictures (in development)
Director: TBD
Producers: Cary Brokaw and John Calley

"Sony Pictures will pay screenwriter Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) $3 million for his 75-page "script-ment" (less than a script, but more than a treatment) of Whitley Strieber's as-yet-unpublished alien SF novel The Grays, one of the studio's largest payments for a treatment, Variety reported.
It's not clear who'll star in The Grays, but insiders say the lead role is intended for a woman, the trade paper reported.
Producing the pic are Avenue Pictures' Cary Brokaw and former Sony Pictures chairman John Calley. Avenue head of production Aaron Geller will supervise the project's development for Brokaw's shingleshingle. At the studio, exec VP Andrea Gianetti and senior VP Sam Dickerman will oversee development.
An ex-advertising executive, Strieber began his career as a novelist with the horror titles The Hunger and Wolfen, both of which were turned into feature films. More recently, Strieber co-authored with Art Bell a book about doomsday climate change, The Coming Global Super Storm, which served as the inspiration for Fox's The Day After Tomorrow. Strieber also authored a novelization of that film. He first gained national notoriety for his 1987 book Communion, about his alleged abduction by aliens."

Looks like we might have a full blown movie theater alien movie coming down the shoot in the near future!!!!!!!

The premise of the film sounds great, hopefully the film wont turn out into something like "Signs"...that was ridiculous.

I'll be content if the plot of the movie follows at least one of the common theories regarding the Grays. I mentoned the movie "Signs" because at first they advertised that movie as if it would explore the phenomenon of crop formations...but instead we got these other ridiculous events that unfolded in the movie-- and the crop circles were a non-issue basically.
The director pretty much used interest-grabbing subjects such as aliens and crop formations to get his messege across (a messege that had nothing to do with aliens or crop formations).

I remember feeling cheated after watching "Signs"
...tremendous let-down indeed.

I'm very sorry but I had to take away the information I posted about my uncle. I can't discuss much of anything about him to the public except for that he works on top serect "black programs" and has done so since 1966. He has a very high clearance of which he hasn't told me just yet. Sorry, but I don't want the Feds to show up at my door and I don't want my uncle to loose his job. I'm sure you can all understand...

How much you want to bet that by the end of this movie (if it's made) they'll have Grays running on all fours, screeching and chasing the protaganists down a dark hallway. Then someone will come in and have a massive Aliens-style shootout with the aliens...

Either that, or it'll turn into a porno movie. The anal probing scene is already a given!

I'm assuming nobody has seen the movie version of "Communion"? It starred Christopher Walken. I saw it when I was about 10 or so. Creeped me out big time! Walken, not the aliens.

I'm a big fan of Whitley's writing (and films). Scene360.com are gonna publish my 3/5 review for their Xmas issue. Three out of five? Why? Well, it's not due to a starring role for the (imagined) "tr-3b astra" (triangle UFO) but a lot to do with mainstream narrative resolution. The alien sex scenes and the way they remain 'invisible' is a neat touch. Remember Coccoon is all I'll say.
