The airport in Karlstad was evacuated at 1:40 p.m. (7:40 a.m. EST), after a Scandinavian Airlines employee reported that "a possible suicide candidate" had been spotted at the airport, police spokeswoman Yvonne Carlsten said.

Erik Soderberg, a spokesman for the Swedish civil aviation authority told Swedish news agency TT that someone had left a bomb at the airport. He said someone called with a bomb threat at 12:47 (6:47 a.m. EST).

The airport, which opened in 1997, has flights to Scandinavian cities. About 100 people work at the airport.

Sounds like a pretty small airport.
I wonder why someone would target that instead of a larger airport.

This is probably nothing, but smaller airports would be targeted if the goal was to take control of the aircraft or blow it up over populated areas due the usually lax security found at small regional airports over large international airports.
