British Handgun Ban and the Olympics

Topic started on 22-10-2005 @ 12:36 PM by Winchester Ranger T

I never even thought of this, but apparently someone has reminded the UK government that under current British law, three of the Olmpic sporting events carry a 5 year prison sentence for competitors

The UK shooters association has asked for a change in the law which seems unlikely, make that very unlikely.

Any ideas how the tofu eaters in London will get around this one ?

It's no big deal at all, Winchester.

They'll simply make an exemption specific to the sport during the Olympics for the duration with a temporary and technical adjustment by the Minister concerned, in fact I'd be really surprised if that particular 'power' wasn't already within the detail of that particular 'gun banning' law and the Minister's 'regulations' connected with it.

I don't think it will even have to go anywhere near Parliament

Pity they can't extend that privilege to our former small bore pistol gold medal winner.

He has to fly to Switzerland every weekend to practice.

Madness.
