Not only is John Roberts for embryonic stem cell research (which means he's not really pro-life), but he's also backed gay-rights groups.

While I personally applaud the fact that John Roberts had a role in a Supreme Court ruling ensuring that gays are not discriminated because of their sexual orientation, this quote from the article must be pointed out:


Roberts' role working on behalf of gay activists, whose cause is anathema to many conservatives, appears to illustrate his allegiance to the credo of the legal profession: to zealously represent the interests of the client, whoever it might be.


Indeed, to put it simply, a lawyer who argues only half-heartedly on his client's behalf because of his personal beliefs isn't a very good lawyer.

The other thing is, if this shows Roberts has good work ethics as a lawyer, being a judge is a whole different thing. In the latter case, you're not arguing, you're deciding.
