China to buy 38 Russian military transport jets

India are awaiting the 4 Tu-22M3 's that were ordered from Russia.

And China might well get these as well :

The chief of the Russian Air Force, Vladimir Mikhailov, said on Thursday, Jan. 13, that the Russian military could sell a number of Tu-22M3 and Tu-95 bomber aircraft to China.

Speaking at a press conference at the Interfax-Army News agency Mikhailov said: “We could sell to China a part of our stock of Tu-22M3 and Tu-95 strategic bombers.”

Answering a question whether there are any specific plans for such a sale, the Air Force chief said: “We will show the planes at the joint military exercise, so that the Chinese become interested. If they have the money, let them buy [the bombers].”

the Tu-22 series finished porduction in the 80s. if we buy these planes they will have been already 20years old.

Russia jeopardising its own security concerns..
Dejavous 1950s when russia backed out from supplying china with a prototype a-bomb amidst fears that it(russia) may be just breeding another strategic competitor..

Russia has currently has more than 60 Backfires in reserve with more coming in every year (these are perfect backfires its just Russia can't pay for it). They are willing to sell some and even all of its reserves (Ukraine had 100+ backfires and blinders in 2001, they've dismantled the bulk of it now). The Russians are actually willing to sell KH-22/AS-4 Kitchen ASMs with a speed of mach 5 and a range of 500 Kilometres (USSR tested one that actually flew to 70Km in altitude and mach 7+ in speed).

P.S These aren't cruise missiles, they fly to extremely high altitudes and descend upon its targets.

actually the russians have resloved all their border problems with china and any chinese attack will be met wiht nuclear weapons.

Russians have historicly expanding West and have now found a partner which does not have the same wish

In the 50s russia was afraid of china taking contol of the world communism and didn't want to make a competitor but now these two have different interest but the same competitor(US)
