A powerful Typhoon has hit Tokyo, killing one person and injuring two. Typhoon Mawar brought with it winds of up to 67mph. More than 3,500 households lost power and hundreds of families were evacuated as water flooded their homes. Residents are warned to expect rainfall of up to 14inches within 24 hours.
The prefectures of Chiba and Shizuoka, on the east and west of Tokyo, were worst hit. Thousands of households were left without power. Some 27 million people live in Tokyo and its surrounding prefectures.

More than 3,500 households lost power in Chiba, just east of Tokyo.

Hundreds of families were evacuated as rising water levels flooded homes and trigged seven landslides in the two prefectures.

So far this typhoon hasn't brought with it too many deaths. Let's hope the subsequent winds, rain and flooding will not take more lives. The usual (homes & infrastructure) have been hit the hardest, but it is usually the flooding afterward that really does the most damage.
