MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican environmentalists on Friday said they might tone down posters of scantily clad women aimed at saving endangered turtles after a government panel that promotes women's rights objected.

The posters seek to dispel a myth that sea turtle eggs are an aphrodisiac. The panel complained that using suggestive images to raise consciousness, even if it is for a worthy cause, is degrading to women

oh yeah , a womans group says that saving the planet is degrading to them

I don't see anything offensive about the ad.
At least it draws attention to the problem.

In Mexico and other countries sea turtle eggs and sea turtles are a popular food. I could never bring myself to eat it and wish more would be educated on how bad the sea turtles population really is. At least they are doing something about the problem, I dont see anything wrond with it and it is definatly an ad that will get a males attention.

The slogan says: "My man does not need turtle eggs. " Hopefully the controversy will help get the message out.

Except that's not what they're saying

They're complaining about the imagery in the ad.

Not the saving of the planet.

Context, people, context

When talking about an environment where ex porn stars host children's shows, it seems they'd have easier battles to pick....

Sex (as it does elsewhere) sells in Latin America, simple as that. It's a clever ad, it get's attention (sure got theirs), and now is getting free publicity....
