Another New Contest for Our Artistic Members

In addition to this call for entries for the home page banner:

We're looking for a few good artists for the top of the discussion boards.

Once the website redesign and recoding is complete, the top-most space in the headers of the three boards will be utilized for "house ads" for logged in members (guests will still see normal banner ads). Meaning this is the area where we promote important ATS things to our membership.

We'd like to have a nice bank of banners that do everything from call attention to important threads, to simply provide excellent quotes or ideas that are compatible with the ideals of ATS. These "house ads" will not be simple "interesting graphics" like we used to have behind our logo, but important messages.

Specifications are:

Size: 728x90 (typical IAB "leader board")
Animated GIF: File size maximum: 30k
(Sorry, no Flash yet)

Some hints and tips:

Don't use the ATS logo... it's "bad form" to have two logos side-by-side at the top.
Our fonts are "Arial Rounded Bold" and "Abduction", please use these.
If you're promoting one specific board (ATS, BTS, or PTS) please make sure the background color of the banner is the same as the color of the board header.
If you're creating a simple statement or famous quote, please use a black background.

We'll be using the "premium services" top-tier option of a highly-reviewed online swag vendor, but markup on the items will be very low to keep prices reasonable for our members. We'll be having several other design contests where you can also contribute to things like T-shirts, hats, mugs, mouse pads, stickers, and more. Watch for the announcement in a couple weeks.

Are all or some of these banners going to be clickable?

Example: If you had a banner that said "All Members Please Read" are you planing on making it clickable so that it takes the member to the thread?

I ask because of a design I'm thinking about.

Still frame of the same thing, if it makes a difference.

Boy I had trouble keeping this one under 30k while maintaining the animation. Originally I had a light bulb on each end and the “Quote of the Day” text faded out while fading in the Quote. Impossible.....I cut everything out and this is the result. I still like it but the full one was much better.

My first attempt at making an animated gif. Just like Kinglizard, I had a problem trying to keep the filesize under 30k.

Perhaps I'm getting too forum specific, I hope not at least. This is just an idea I had last night, insomnia does wonders for creativity I guess.

I was thinking along the lines of making 1 or however many you wish, banners about each section of the forums, example aliens and ufo's has a banner, and when you click it you are taken to that section.

science and technology has one, and it takes you to that section.

Until you mentioned it Dulcimer, I didn't see SO's comment about making it the same color to match the specific board until now...now I know why a lot of them are red. >_<
