ask Saddam Insane, hes the one who bought all that stuff, more than enough for a country of that size, but then with countries surrounding all sides its a wonder why he bought so many of those weapons.

Ahhh, lets see:
1) Alot has been destroyed [ie: Gulf War 1 and 2].
2) Some was sent to Iran on agreement that the hardware would be returned. Iran did not return the hardware.
3) Some was sent to Syria, where it still remains.
4) Some was buried in the deserts of Iraq. Some still being discovered/dug up.
5) Some is back in use with the current Iraqi government.

The Vostok is a .22LR Biathlon target rifle
I think you mean the Dragunov sniper rifle.

The Iraqis (and the insurgents) are using the following small arms:

AK-47 / AKM in 7.62x39
Makarov pistol in 9x18 (very nice I have one myself)
Dragunov in 7.92x54 (I think - can't be bothered to check the caliber)
SKS in 7.62x39 (also very nice - I have one myself)

FYI - One of the on-line firearms retailers is currently offering used Yugoslavian SKS rifles in good condition for $89 - unbelievable value, get them while you can.
