If you really want to be nameless for a post or two, it's quite simple - though frowned upon I suppose. Go to the library where you can be anonymous & post under a different name. It would also be a good way to share info that you don't want traced back to you - problem with that is you probably would want that in the RATS forum & then you'd have to come up with many post to get enough ponts to do that - by then it would be easy to trace you by your writing profile.

couldnt you just create a new account and switch back and forth. Instead of driving to the library?

Spliff - I believe most forums discourage people from making multiple accounts because weirdo’s often make post then have conversations with themselves and/or pretend to have more support for their side of a subject than they really do to create false credibility. Sort of like someone pretending to be a satisfied customer for a product that they themselves are selling. Or in this forum they could use them to create fake points. Such as starting a subject then replying to it over & over with different names.

If you have DSL or CABLE you will often have the same IP for months at a time depending on your ISP & if it is noticed that there is abuse going on from the same IP (forensic trace evidence) it may get you banned. Plus your modem has a MAC address that is associated with the IP you've been given. OF course you might be able to Release & Renew to a new IP or dial up to a different one every time & clear your cookies as well. Yes there are ways to spoof all traceable items - but that's just too much work & then you'd have to wipe your system as well.

Also, since I added the posting of information that you might not want traced back to you to the idea - you would have to be clever to do it from an origin that is connected with you & then leave no traces. It's just simpler (cleaner) do it where you can be anonymous that's all.

To be totally clean/untraceable and able to post anonymously you need to post from a computer that is at a public location & is not tied to any account/associates connected with you.

Sort of like if you wanted to make a phone call and not have it traced back to you, you might use a pre-paid phone card from a pay phone & discard it afterwards so it can't be traced back to you. Of course the card would have to be purchased from somewhere that wouldn't be your normal turf, paid in cash & you couldn't use it multiple times to allow the connection of dots (associates) etc.
