Why is Maxism evil?

In my time here I've seen a lot of hatred being directed at leftwing thinkers.
Alot of it seems rather irrational to me?
Ijust dont get it.
What exactly is do bad about the concept of socialism/communism or any other society based on cooperation rather then competition?

Marxism is evil because it is contrary to the capitalist way of greed, power and corruption.

Maxism, on the other hand, sounds like the version of capitalism practised by Bill Gates.

boogyman Maxism and to a lesser extend socialism are great in theroy but in practice they have fatal flaws.
As for labeling any one who has left wing leanings a commie , liiberal is lazy, just plain stupid or the member is a fox news zombie who cant think for themselvs you choose.
Socialism and Maxism arent the same thing Maxism is on the extreme left making Socialism a little future towards right.

It's not evil. Actually, socialism is the transition period to communism in theory, but it has never really reached the end. You can never reach the goals of capitalism either, because it is not possible without changing the nature of man.

The reason capitalism seems to work better overall, is because humanity works best in struggle. Most genius is born out of necessity or self preservation.

I dont believe though that a cooperative society precludes struggle against adversity. In fact I believe that during times of adversity succesful behavior is marked by a cooperative and not competetive instinct. Humanity did not get to the point it is at today by intrasocietal competition. If we had been more concerned about individual survival rather than societal we would never have advanced beyond the stone age.

True, but the activation of a more "cooperative" society is done from the bottom rather than the top due to our cohesion in times of struggle. The common cause makes us band together across lines we wouldn't normally cross.

In the end, in times of comfort we need to inject or maintain a sense of struggle to keep us productive.

Therein lies the problems of today, comfort. We are a comfortable society with a lot of money no matter what people say. We have things that many other countries do not that make our lives more open to free time, which in the end ruins us.

We are at the end of the road, or at least close to it. All political systems need to be completely gutted at LEAST every 50 years or so, but more political parties would help here for a while.

Well Marxism can work, but it has never been practiced the way it was suppose to be practiced. For example, the communism used by Russia or China oppresses the people and has maldistribution of wealth, something socailism is suppose to be against. The problem of converting to communism is that the person in power or the people in power who led the revolt usually dont want to give up their power. So Marxism is very hard to put to practice, maybe impossible, like a utopia.

Capitalism has major drawbacks. If it wasnt for socail welfare, we wouldnt have America as we have it today. The countries that have capitalism and no social welfare are in deep doo doo. The people are extremely poor and the rich are, well extremely rich.

If you read The German Ideology and The Theses on Feuerbach you will see that Marxism relies on a basic assumption of human nature that seems to contradict what KJ posted above.

His explication of 'species being' and the like make for interesting consideration especially when considering the plausibility of Marxism ever coming to pass in this world.

Well, Human Nature is something for the ages. For the same reason that Shakespeare is still popular, we are still the same in truth. In thousands of years we have not risen above the flaw that binds us down.

Personally, I believe humans have one single flaw; that being the inability to love ourselves.

As to communism, I believe Animal Farm summed it up pretty well.

There is nothing inherently evil about any political ideology.

The question is about corruption. The forms of government eminating from Marxist philosophies tend to corrupt in the way the George Orwell best captured in Animal Farm.

When the laborers seize power from the "evil" landowners, and they themselves take power, and then become evil themselves, this is the evil we address when we call Communism evil, and Marxism evil.

But you have a good question. I found myself asking the same question recently in a discussion with a good conservative friend of mine. Actually he calls himself a radical decentralist.

The Nolan chart attempts to capture two dimensions of political ideological freedom. One is economic controls, and the other is social controls.

Authoritarian ideologies such as Communism and Facism control both economic and social freedoms. China operates business and regulates people's personal lives.

The Libertarian ideology advocates quite the opposite, freedom in both ... complete free market capitalism plus total social freedom. Truly a minimalist approach.

Modern American political ideologies fall somewhere in the middle depending on their left and right wing orientation. It's not entirely clear how left and right map to this two dimensional chart but many people have attempted to build their own mappings.


However, this still does not address the notion of evil. In theory one could have a good or evil form of each type of ideology, such as in the Dungeons and Dragons game where you choose your character motivation Good vs. Evil, Lawful vs. Chaotic. However, the Authoritarian regimes are most vulnerable to corruption, and thus, evil.

God here it is a couple of months later and only now do I realize I forget to put the R in marxism how embarassing....
