In a severe blow to the Washington Hawks belligerent rhetoric, the EU announced that it is expanding infrastructural ties with the islamic republic of Iran. This comes amidst still unverified redundant US/Israeli claims that Iran is close to achieving nuclear weapons technology.

Brussels, May 27, IRNA-The European Union indicated strong determination to promote energy cooperation with Iran on Thursday when a top EU energy official said the union looks at Iran as one of its most important energy suppliers.

Francois Lamoureux, the director general of Energy and Transport in the European Commission, said the EU attaches great significance to the importance of dialogue between oil producing and consuming countries, stressing that the union plans to expand its energy cooperation with Iran.

Lamoureux, speaking in a meeting with the visiting Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for International Affairs Hadi Nejad-Hosseinian, said the union also plans to cooperate with Iran in other sectors as well including sea, road and rail transport issues.
