U.S. Marines want new UAV this year.

The U.S. Marines want a UAV to take part of the expeditionary unit. It is required to have 27 to 50 Naut. mile range, and is being led by the Marine Corps Systems Command and Warfighting Laboratory. It is desired to have an array of survelance equipment and is to be capable of being transported in the MV-22 tiltrotor.

It seems to be it is quite obvious that this is being ordered as a result of lessons learned. The same thing happens with every war, so I guess this should really be of no suprise.
