This is for Windows users... which I'm sure is a major percentage of ATS users.
One of our "insider" friends has asked me to alert our users to take steps to protect your computers if you already have not.
First step, visit www.windowsupdate.com... to make sure your OS has the latest patches to protect from Buffer Overflow explots.
Next, please get a personal firewall such as Black Ice Defender,
Zone Alarm, or Norton
Personal Firewall if you're not using a DLS or CableModem connection with a hardware router/firewall. (If you're on a dialup, it's still a
good idea to get the patches and personal firewall)
There is increased concern that a major coordinated computer attacks is being planned. However, there is apparently concern that this next attack
would target personal computers and not web servers.
If I get more information, I'll post it here.

Thanks for the heads up William, much appreciated!
I just downloaded the latest patches. Although I feel I have a decent firewall I still always unplug my cable modem when not online and I would
recommend users who have a cable connection do the same. Otherwise you are leaving open a way in to your pc.

Also be mindful of email attachments.
A couple viruses (virii?) are making the rounds again that could further complicate the above.
CoreFlood popped up again in the last couple days,
securityresponse.symantec.com...
And a new worm that exploits the latest Micro$oft security flaw popped up today,
securityresponse.symantec.com...@mm.html
Mimail is the first level 3 risk Symantec's put out in awhile, so do keep an eye out.

Yes it would be a good idea to get an anti-virus system and put it on high priority. The one I have is pretty good it nabbed 5 of them so far. Its
called Avast, its a trial one but it lasts for 60 some days, sorry I forget the site I'll post it ;ater.
