Why "Peak Oil"?

Topic started on 8-5-2005 @ 01:34 PM by koji_K

Been away for a bit, and came back to see there was a new forum called "Peak Oil". I was wondering why this was chosen as a topic? It seems a bit exclusive, I mean I would certainly support a forum called just "Oil", which would of course cover issues relating to Peak Oil theories, but there seems to be so much more at stake when it comes to geopolitics, the environment, our daily lives, etc when it comes to Oil rather than "Peak Oil". Specifically, Oil is a finite resource, yes, but this isn't the only factor relating to its effects on our planet and societies.

It reminds me of the time someone proposed a forum for dealing with that John Titor guys theories. Now I don't know anything about John Titor, but I gathered he was some sort of alleged time traveller. What I couldn't understand was why such a thread would be considered when a forum dealing with "Time Travel" in general seemed like it would have made a lot more sense?

Not trying to rock the boat, just curious is all...
