I don't know who ran against Blair, but Bush got lucky with Kerry as his opponent. Any decent candidate could have destroyed Bush. Kerry was too busy
trying to be all things to all people. Kerry refused to stand for anything. He couldnt answer a simple yes or no question. If he faced somebody with
political skill like Bill Clinton or somebody who could communicate ideas with conviction then he would have been defeated. Bush was very vunerable
going in to the conventions and Kerry didn't exploit it because he was afraid of offending somebody. In summary, Bush won in large part because Kerry
sucked so bad.
The sad thing is I don't think the democrats have anybody who can do any better than Kerry for the forseeable future. They need a democratic version
of Reagan who can communicate his ideas well enough to transcend party affiliation and draw in independents.
