Russia 'foils Chechen bomb attacks'

SECURITY forces had reportedly broken up Chechen rebel plans to use poison and explosives to launch attacks in the North Caucasus, four days before world leaders hold wartime victory celebrations in Moscow, Russia said today.

"The FSB (state security services) received information about the preparation of terrorist attacks during operations carried out to head off terrorist activity by Chechen bandit groups," an FSB spokesman said.
