in the bible: is "Heaven" and "the heavens" the same thing or different???

sometimes in the bible it says that Jesus went into Heaven (one place and the "H" is capitalized)...

then it says that mary went to the heavens (plural and no capital "H")...

we (christians) know that Heaven is the place we go to, if we are good, when we die...

as educated people, we know that "the heavens" is a fancy way of saying "space"...

so, Jesus went to Heaven and mary went to space???

hmmm...

i guess UFOs are now involved???

We must must form a rescue mission immediatley to recover Mary. We must ask ourselves:What Would Jesus Do?

This thread just gave me a breath of fresh air, sincerely. Thanks.

That is funny, but I am afraid that the discrepancies you just found is nothing more that some misinterpretations in the translations taking in consideration that it was more than one redactor doing the writings.

The bible has many translations discrepancies if you take translations from different sources in time and compare them you will see them better.

I still cant find where mary went to the heavens or space.

There are 3 heavens.

The atmosphere/sky/ where the clouds are
Outer Space where the sun/moon/stars are
3rd heaven where God is

It is usually obvious which one is meant. Test it against the context

in one text it says:

"mary ascended to the heavens" or something like this...

why didn't it say she went to Heaven???

It doesn't say Mary was taken to heaven or outer space. You go to heaven to be with God if you have accepted what Christ has done to remove your sin debt. Good works or being good have nothing to do with it, but they are a result of accepting Christ. You sin less in frequency and intensity because the Holy Sprit now lives in you.

When I stated we must form a rescue mission to recover Mary from the UFOs who took her, I was stating I think it is what Jesus would do. I was attempting to make a joke, because I needed to make a ha ha funny to laugh for a bit after some in depth too serious thinking I usually am doing. That's what I meant.

Funny thing how I express myself, sometimes neither my fingers or my mouth can move at the same speed as my thoughts. So, by the time I'm usually completed expressing a thought I have already asked the next to logical questions and by the time I can express the thought I'm currently having I've skipped over the previous 2. Sorry for my inadequacies. I'm flawed and gifted, and trying my best to balance them both.
