BUSH DEFACES U.S. FLAG

Free MAson, those guys aren'y in Class B's, unless the army has gone to sewn-on name tags rather than the stiff ones fastened on with damnits. Last I saw the recruiter in the neighborhood, they still use the old types.
Freddie, what are you saying, it has no teeth? No implementing regulation? As far as it not being constitutional, the first person who wrote a bill about desecration of the flag was George Washington. I can't remember what the outcome was, but I'd think he'd have a better clue than our modern-day political activists we've seen on the bench the last few decades.

As you can see from this thread, to the rest of the world americas obsession with its flag is bizzare if not disturbing.

You mean you don't care that your politicians lie to you,
that your big bisness exploits you,
that your govt destroys your environment,
that your rights are trampled,
that your poor are dying,
that your kids are dying in a foreign country because of a lie,
that only your rich recieve adequate medical care,
that your medical conglomerates rip you off,
that your low paid slave labour market destroys lives,
that your expansionist foreign policy scares other countries,
that your media pollutes the world with pornography,
that your agricultural and animal industry pump you full of chemicals, poisons and hormones in the name of maximising profit,
that your society sucks in the most resources on the planet, that your people become more ethnocentric and uncaring of others, .....

... but you get really upset when your flag gets autographed by your president....

You guys have really got your priorities screwed. all this crap over one innocnet event whilst the rest of your society burns....

All of the things you list upset me, and would upset me equally if I was still resident in the States;

BUT

the fact that the 'president' is too stupid and ignorant to realize he should not be defacing flags by autographing them,

also upsets me.

That is because I am very balanced when it comes to my attitudes towards the deceitful, lying, useless imbecile 'president' George W Bush and his corrupt administration.

I think the point is that no 'president' or President should be so stupid as to have himself subjected for criticism for breaking the law about defacing the American flag.

THIS, is of course, the entire point.... While not a greivous crime, it is an effective illustration of the President's ignorance of basic American values. Others may not understand our reverence for our flag...but even TC criticized Bush's decision in doing this!!! That speaks volumes, as he's one of the big Bush supporters here...

What if you had to start a fire, but the only kindling you had was a US flag. What would you do?

I know that over the top, but it looks to find out one thing. If the flag is sacred because it is or if it is sacred because you say so when it sounds like a good idea.
