I have pretty much the same opinion as Flyers on this. I didn't like Matt Smith at first but he grew into the role, Capaldi was just about bearable but when Jodie came into it, it just became a show about preaching the 'woke' issues. The first special with the new Dr wasn't the greatest but I will give it a chance. The BBC will see it as a box ticking exercise, wouldn't surprise me if the next iteration is a black transgender wheelchair bound Doctor who does a deal with the Daleks so they/them can fly.
I agree with Wild Apache that Missy was great as the master, played the part wonderfully.

Never a truer word spoken.
I've met Sylvester McCoy, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi (exceptionally nice fella) but gave up when the Doc regenerated as a Woman. No need at all. Not watched an episode since.

Which Romana though?
Lalla Ward or Mary Tamm?
Lalla for the win even though Tom Baker married her.

I don't like woke stuff.

It's scripted by lawyers who have a risk to mittigate, rather than artists with a story to tell.

My question is: how do you rebirth a black skin as anything other without getting the woke wound up?

But then I don't know the viewing demographic in the global Dr. Who market. Maybe more identify with the 'up to date' Dr, than with the Brithish eccentric type who made the series famous.

Let's have Lethbridge-Stewart sort them out.

I don't understand why people have to identify with any character to like it.
I don't identify with ALF, mostly because he's a puppet and an alien, but his character is entertaining and hilarious.

Now one could say, see, why don't you just like the new dr. Who then, if you don't have to identify with the character.

It's simple, it's not a sudden idea by someone with a story written around her, which may or may not be successful. Depending on it's content. But using loved charactrs is a blatant override of what millions of people come to love for what it is.

I stopped watching long ago, prefer the old ones.

As a woman, I don't need a female doctor. I want a white male in the lead, regardless of logic, because that is what doctor who is.

Humans love consistency. Now they killed this franchise. It's merely another propaganda piece and I have the feet that it will go down and the statistics saying otherwise are blatant propagandistic lies.

Everything white and male is now deliberately destroyed. That's pretty nasty in itself, but I as a white woman also don't get to look at white, male heroes any longer.

I don't watch TV anyway. Fortunately there are still indie horror movies with white male and female leads not preaching...and of course a whole Asian market producing brilliant non woke stuff.

That's what I am watching. Everything woke turns into 💩

Of course this won't happen because of the Doctor's secret name...

OH YEAH! I forgot about that!

What really disappointed me was this.

I actually liked Peter. Really good actor that acts the Doctor's age.

With David Tennant I remember the Doctor always siding with humans and being, you know, peaceful and wise.

Then with Jodi it's the story that "every humans are evil". It's such a HUGE contrast with the Doctor and his fundamental character (the guy that solves everything with wits and a screwdriver) that to me, this should not even QUALIFY as the "Doctor" character.

I agree.
I stop't at the end of last male one.
Its brains washing. destroying values.

If males and females are the Same in sport.
Then females Cops can deale with males on there own.
and females can look after male only prisons.
You just know how bad that will turn out.

The question is ... does anyone watch anymore?

This Explains the UK Rating System and Says It's Going Well

This Has Some Episodes Over the Years with Ratings to Compare

Everywhere I go online that talks about Dr. Who has people who aren't happy and stopped watching.

Maybe I'm just seeing the negatives and there really are people who watch this crap still? I dunno.

The ratings are probably bogus. Then again....the UK appears to have become significantly minority and it's probably minority majority for the youth and it's the youth who watch Dr. Who. Complaining about the "wokeness" just shows our age. Hating on whitey is a pastime for the minority youth under the age of 35. Proves their "cred" as woke. I quit watching with Capaldi (Crapaldi). To my tastes, he was awful. Haven't watched since.

I used to love watching Doctor Who.
Especially Doctors Ten and Eleven.
Then Capaldi came in. He was okay.
"They" tanked with Jodie Whittaker.
First female Doctor Who. Didn't like her.
Now they've got Ncuti Gatwa.
Black, immigrant, LGBTQ.
Checks all the woke boxes.
He's out and about whining about white people.
I gave up watching when Jodie Whittaker took over.
Now they've gone all woke and he's whining about white people.
Doctor Who is unwatchable ... and it can't be repaired.
Looking at him all you can see is 'woke' social engineering.
You can't see the character and storyline. There is no separating the two.
Entertainment is impossible. The damage is done.

Black Doctor Who Condemns Celebration of White Mediocrity

Meh, they can change the story all they want.

In my mind, the story of the doctor ended when they decided to turn him into a woman.

Didn't care for it anymore, not gonna watch it.

Doesn't exist to me.

HE was the best; all of HIM.

Don't get me wrong, I love women!

Moreso than men!

Women are the greatests of all time!!! (Wouldn't call em goats tho, I mean come on ... That's degrading)

Some stories are better left untold.

Methinks the woman/black/gay/non-binary doctor is one of those...

Call me a mysogynistic racist bigot all you like, it only shows that you don't know me at all.

The Doctor was great.

This new form of it is just barely tolerable...

But oh well, to each his or her own I guess.

Point is, I agree with you.

But he lives still in our hearts and minds.

Always will.

If we're going back to that era, let's add "Four Feather Falls". And "Torchy".

Dr Who and the sea weed scared me when I were a nipper.

I'm sorry to inform you but Daleks have been flying for a bit now.
All of this is pure wokery. British television has gone OTT, all of it. The news, drama series, soap operas and even advertisements, it's as if they are trying to drive out ALL ideas, thoughts and actions of any British identity.

My favorite will always be Tom Baker. He was the current doctor when I was a kid watching it on Saturday mornings. Also love David Tenant. Matt Smith was ok too. I didn't watch anything after that.

Funny how they try to make a new character by trying banking off the old name. Then just end up corrupting everything.

Like if they tried to make money off a man acting like Lucille Ball and making a new I love Lucy? Or did the same with the Carol Burnett show.

There are somethings you just can’t change without destroying.

I watched the first episode of the last Dr and it felt like Sarah Jane episode.

Good story can give you a lot but that writing really made it hard.
