The Biden administration has cleared the way for the release of five American citizens detained in Iran by issuing a blanket waiver for international banks to transfer $6 billion in frozen Iranian money from South Korea to Qatar without fear of U.S. sanctions. In addition, as part of the deal, the administration has agreed to release five Iranian citizens held in the United States.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed off on the sanctions waivers late last week, a month after U.S. and Iranian officials said an agreement in principle was in place. Congress was not informed of the waiver decision until Monday, according to the notification, which was obtained by The Associated Press.

The waiver drew criticism of President Joe Biden from Republicans and others who say the deal will boost the Iranian economy at a time when Iran poses a growing threat to U.S. troops and Mideast allies

Obviously the release of those who were held in both countries is something positive as part of the deal but there are many criticisms because Congress was not informed of the waiver until yesterday and the secrecy behind the deal has infuriated many who think there are secret talks between the US and Iran on a range of matters. Finally, the $6 billon feels like a ransom given to a country which is regarded as the top sponsor when it comes to funding terrorism.

Well the $6 billion is their money that the U.S. froze and is that enough money to make a difference in their military capabilities? I mean the U.S. so far has sent Ukraine $75 billion and it looks like it didn't go that far.

OF COURSE it's a ransom.
OF COURSE the $$ will go to sponsor terrorism around the world.
OF COURSE Biden is involved with secret talks and Congress isn't informed.
It reeks.

This will usher the begining of the end. ie. The Ezekiel 38 War. Iran/akaPersia and if anyone be informed of the truth all you need to do is read that chapter and also 39.
I have been waiting for America to usher in such things. We are not causing this but it is the catalist that leads to Israels surrounded enemies moving towards it.
Get your popcorn folks.

If anyone be aware, Israel has stepped up its ai and weapons defense and offensive capabilities, but it won't be enough.
It will take something more powerful than anything any man alive today has seen as of yet.
But soon, it will come
Doesn't matter what you believe. Perhaps your eyes cannot see it yet, but soon

$6 billion dollars which Iran didn't have access to-they now have to spend on nuke tech, helping Russia with drones and funding Hizbollah.

Truly a windfall for the mullahs.

Oh and for maximum disrespect-when shall we announce this wonderful deal?
The anniversary of 9/11?

Why not!

WTF Joe?

There could be more that has been discussed we don't know of. Deals and agreements we have no idea of.

Qasem Soleimani played with fire and wound up in pieces. Giving Iran a dime is supporting terror in the Middle East and it is needed again.

The US wants to fund ISIS/ISIL just like they did before.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken told Congress that the money would provide "limited benefit" to Iran as it could only be used for humanitarian trade. He also confirmed that five Iranians detained in the US would be freed as part of the prisoner exchange deal. Republicans condemned the transfer.

Last month, he stressed that Qatar had agreed to ensure the funds were used by Iran "strictly for humanitarian purposes and in a strictly controlled way". He also said Iran would not have direct access to the funds and there would be "significant oversight" from the US.

www.bbc.com...

Let's wait and see how Iran uses the money if they are given it in a controlled way...whatever that looks like.

6 BILLION dollars to Iran? WTH? Biden just signed the EO death warrant for America. Obama only gave them 400 million and did his best to empty GITMO so they could go on to bigger and better things.

Biden is the new face of Satan.

Biden is secretly trading with whoever it is when at the same time his administration supports the view that men can be transformed into women if they feel like it...

No, it is money that was frozen. It was intercepted in Korea and has been frozen in their banks since then, due to sanctions on Iran.

They are now allowing $6b of that frozen money to be released to an account in Qatar that we have access to and can watch. The $6b can only be used for humanitarian reasons, like schools and education, food, antibiotics and other medicine, agriculture etc...

If any of it misused, we re-freeze the account.

Not ideal, they suck. But welcome home to the five Americans.

2.1.2024

Sidebar: Notice Iran is NOT warning Joe Biden not to attack their interests.

That's because President Joe Biden's administration is giving our enemies the opportunity to evacuate people and expensive equipment and weapons, before he drops the made for TV re-election campaigns, bombs on them.

Bergdahl is from my state and he's about as popular here as Hanoi Jane or more currently Mulveny.

Funny thing when Obama was 'negotiating' his release his parents were interviewed on TV a lot-they had obviously converteted to Islam. Daddy with his scruffy beard and mommy wearing her head blanket-whatever the hell it's called.
